When do you decide the time is right to expand your business?

Observing my wife running around very busy, doing what she has to do to keep her business moving forward.

Although she has employed two more staff, Hannah and Lauren, the work is relentless. Amanda absolutely loves it though. Cannot get enough. That is a danger though, isn’t it? Amanda herself cannot see how much she puts into this. Days blend together, months blend together, years blend together.

I have broached the subject of employing another member of staff. Your business, you work hard at it. Pay your bills on time, build up your reserves, re-invest, grow, repeat.

Amanda believes she is all good, coping well. I agree, to a point. At some point though she has to step back a little and allow others to take some of the strain. Hannah and Lauren work very hard and have taken some of the strain, but the clients keep increasing, the work keeps on growing.

Maybe turn down new clients? Amanda has done that. Amanda hates to turn any business away, but if the client does not feel right, they're not right.

I believe when running a business you have to anticipate (the best you can) what is waiting for you around the next corner and prepare for it.

Maybe I am too caring of a husband, maybe I am a pain in her bottom, only Amanda will know!

Maybe it’s a rhetorical question, but when is the time right to expand your business?
